Slingr turns Slack into the ultimate task manager

Slack is terrific for taking lunch orders and sharing GIFs with an intercontinental team (as us about “Whiplash Wednesday!”) but it breaks down when you attempt to get true work accomplished. Which is why Slingr exists.

Made by knowledgeable products manager Grace F. Schroeder, Slingr was made 1st as a platform and then as a products. Shroeder preferred a little something that a disparate team could use to hook up with each and every other and set up responsibilities and code maintenance. Her working experience at a number of incredibly early cloud startups told her that program as a company was the way to go.

“In 2006, people today were just starting off to talk about cloud providers. I encountered a couple of internet enhancement shops that were starting off to configure applications like Sugar and VTiger for mid-sized corporations,” she reported. “They consistently complained that all those early frameworks experienced rigid info types, and that ‘cracking’ the info product to get the application to work as the purchaser expected negated the time personal savings of possessing a platform in the 1st location. That trapped in my head as a dilemma that would in no way go absent.”

The consequence is Slingr, a platform that connects a number of cloud providers jointly in an enterprise ecosystem. Her initial proof of principle, SlingrPRO, is focusing on Slack integration.

“Given the increase in recognition of Slack, we resolved that the best way to showcase the adaptability of SLINGRPro was to develop a dynamic application made from scratch to assist Slack people attain their business enterprise automation/SaaS integration dreams,” she reported. “Since we introduced the application on the Slack App store in late July to beta prospects, we have been ready to insert integrations to the Google Calendar, Google Contacts and most a short while ago, IBM Watson Tone Analyzer. Now Slack people can run their penned terms by means of IBM Watson to see what tones will possible resonate with their readers.”

The platform has 3,000 energetic everyday people and they’ve elevated $two.1M from a tiny group of angel investors to date. They’ve reinvested proceeds again into the products.

The complete platform can do a amount of points including speedy application enhancement, UI and Rest API automobile-technology, and whole-stack JavaScript application development.

“Our program is to introduce a steady stream of integrations that work ‘out of the box’ with SLINGR/Slack,” she reported.

Definitely this is some pretty heady things. The way to think about Slingr is it is an integration platform that connects many providers – Google Calendar with Mailchimp with notifications despatched to a Slack channel, say – and does it seamlessly and quietly. The value proposition for a large organization is pretty obvious.

“In the olden days, when pterodactyls circled the earth, you’d have but a couple of program distributors sniffing around your door. The angst of choice creating was minimal as extensive as you trapped to the Big Blues of the entire world. The only program that took root in the tiny business enterprise in a large way was Microsoft Business,” reported Schroeder. “We see the most results in incremental everything. Smaller, non-disruptive steps that steadily get organization info where by it does the most good versus the swinging alter pendulum that occasionally clock corporations senseless.”

If Slingr can automate Whiplash Wednesday then I’m all in.
